many team members as you want, or come alone and join a team.
Proceeds from trivia will go
to the Puget Sound Fisher House. The VA Puget
Sound Fisher House opened its doors on September 10, 2008. The guest
suites at Fisher House provide a “home away from home” for families
of veterans receiving care at the hospital. Guests are able to be near their
loved ones while having a comfortable place to recharge after a long day at the
hospital.
Our American
Legion Auxiliary will be assisting with the gardens at Fisher House. Your
contribution to play trivia will help us to purchase the plants and garden
supplies needed to make Puget Sound Fisher House truly a “Home away from
Home” for the families of sick and injured veterans.
Since food

| | | Mr. San Juan Island Contest at Roche Harbor
MR. SAN JUAN ISLAND Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Show starts at 7 p.m. at Roche Harbor Pavilion.
Last year's Mr. San Juan Island fundraiser was such a success
that the Friday Harbor Elementary School PTA is continuing the
competition. The event isn't about beauty, brains or talent (although
they'll be exhibiting all three at the pageant), but how much money
each candidate raises. The evening will entail fashion, talent and trivia segments. Each
dollar you spend on the candidate equals a 'vote'. The candidate that
raises the most money will be crowned Mr. San Juan Island at the end of
the evening. Along with the show, you'll have an opportunity to bid on
some great adventures--like an overnight trip for four to Seattle and
Safeco field to watch the Mariners play.
Proceeds from the event benefit the FHES PTA and will go towards
replacing the school's 20+ year old gym mats and basic school supplies,
as well as important programs such as PIP and music enrichment. The
FHES PTA also contributes toward popular elementary school
competitions, such as the Math Olympiad and the GeoBee.
Chef Bill Shaw and emcee Boo Boo Keane will delight you with
delectable hors d'ourves and witty banter while you meet this year's
contenders:
- Bob Benz
- Dan DeShon
- Donny Galt
- Geody Howden
- Patrick Minney,
- Scott Zehner.

What's a "Smartypants"?
|
Get ready to laugh and enjoy the sounds of music when
Captain Smartypants
lands on the Whittier stage THIS Saturday, March 20 at 7:30 pm!
The
nine-man ensemble is an off-shoot of the internationally-renowned
Seattle Men’s Chorus, the largest community chorus in America and the
largest gay chorus in the world (along with the Seattle Women’s
Chorus).
Friday
Harbor is lucky to help the ensemble celebrate a decade of mixing their
cerebral humor and talented voices. Their zany 2010 show features “the
best of the best” of those ten years, including scenes from such themed
shows as:
“Trousers
of Terror,” based on classic and contemporary horror films;
“PowerPants!,” which reinvented the group as superheroes; “Cirque du
Slaque,” when the ensemble runs away to the circus; and “Air Smarty,”
featuring a plane crash and Annie Lennox songs.
Folks
who have experienced Captain Smartypants live, are already smiling
enthusiastically, including San Juan Island’s Sharron Kick. “These men
are really, really talented singers and they’re really, really funny!”
said Sharron.
Check out more about this fun-filled ensemble at www.captainsmartypants.com Captain Smartypants appearance is underwritten by Friday Harbor’s PFLAG Chapter.

The ensemble is an off-shoot of the Seattle Men’s Chorus. Founded in
1979, the internationally-renowned chorus is the largest community
chorus in America and the largest gay chorus in the world (along with

their relationships.”
